Runa’s AI chat lets you ask questions across your entire meeting history in plain language. Instead of scrubbing through transcripts or searching for a specific moment, you can ask what was decided, what was promised, or what a particular client has said — and get a direct answer with references back to the source. This turns your meeting library into a searchable company brain that grows more useful over time.

How AI chat works

When you ask a question, Runa searches across the transcripts and documents in scope — either a specific folder or your entire workspace — and surfaces the most relevant information. Answers include citations so you can trace any response back to the exact meeting it came from. The AI works best when your meetings are organized into folders, because folder context helps it understand which conversations are related and retrieve more precise answers.

What you can ask

AI chat is useful any time you need to find something that was said, decided, or committed to in a past meeting. Common use cases include:
  • Preparing for follow-up calls — review what was discussed last time and what you said you’d do.
  • Finding decisions and commitments — surface what was agreed to, and by whom.
  • Onboarding new teammates — let them ask questions about projects and clients without reading every transcript.
  • Researching a client or topic — pull together everything said across multiple conversations.
Example questions you can ask:
  • “What did we agree to in last week’s investor call?”
  • “What follow-ups are outstanding for Acme Corp?”
  • “What has the product team said about the mobile app roadmap?”
  • “What concerns has Sarah raised across our 1-on-1s?”
  • “What were the key decisions from Q2 planning?”

Start a chat session

1

Open a folder or your workspace

Navigate to the folder you want to query, or stay in the main workspace view to search across all your meetings.
2

Open the AI chat panel

Click the Chat icon or the Ask Runa button. The chat panel will open on the right side of the screen.
3

Type your question

Ask in plain language. You don’t need to use special syntax or keywords. Runa will interpret your question and search your meetings.
4

Review the answer and sources

Runa will return an answer with references to the specific meetings it drew from. Click any source reference to jump directly to that transcript.
5

Ask follow-up questions

You can continue the conversation in the same chat session. Follow-up questions use the context of earlier messages, so you can drill down into a topic without repeating yourself.

Search across documents

In addition to meeting transcripts, Runa can search across documents that you’ve added to your folders. This means you can ask questions that span both conversation recordings and written materials — for example, combining a contract document with the calls you had while negotiating it. To include a document in chat, add it to a folder. Anything in that folder becomes part of the AI’s context.
Organize your meetings into folders before using AI chat. A folder of all your calls with a specific client will give you much more relevant answers than querying your entire, unorganized meeting history. The AI uses folder context to understand which conversations are related.
