Single Sign-On (SSO) lets your team sign in to Runa using your organization’s existing identity provider. Instead of managing separate Runa passwords, your members authenticate through the same system they use for other company tools — giving IT centralized control over access and simplifying onboarding and offboarding.
SSO is an Enterprise-only feature. You must be on the Enterprise plan to enable it. If you are on Basic or Pro, upgrade to Enterprise or contact sales to discuss your options.

What SSO enables

With SSO configured for your Runa workspace:
  • Team members sign in to Runa through your identity provider — no separate Runa password required.
  • Access is automatically revoked when you remove someone from your identity provider, removing the need to manually offboard them from Runa separately.
  • IT and security teams maintain a single point of control for authentication across all connected tools.
  • New members can be provisioned quickly using your existing directory.

How to set up SSO

SSO configuration for Runa is handled with the help of the Runa Enterprise team. Because SSO setup involves connecting your identity provider to your Runa workspace, the process is completed collaboratively to ensure a smooth rollout.
1

Confirm your Enterprise plan

SSO requires an active Enterprise plan. If you are not yet on Enterprise, contact sales to get started.
2

Contact the Runa Enterprise team

Reach out via downloads.joinruna.com or through your existing Enterprise account contact. Let them know you want to enable SSO for your workspace.
3

Provide your identity provider details

The Runa team will ask for information about your identity provider configuration. Have your IT or security team available to supply the required details during this step.
4

Test the SSO connection

Once configuration is complete, test sign-in with a small group of users before rolling out to your full team. Confirm that authentication works as expected and that access controls are applying correctly.
5

Roll out to your team

After testing is successful, communicate the change to your team. Depending on your configuration, members may be required to use SSO going forward or given the option to continue using their existing credentials during a transition period.

Frequently asked questions

What identity providers does Runa support? Contact the Runa Enterprise team for details on supported identity providers. They can confirm compatibility with your existing setup during the onboarding process. Can I use SSO alongside password-based sign-in? This depends on your SSO configuration. Many organizations enforce SSO exclusively once it is set up. Discuss your requirements with the Runa Enterprise team when configuring SSO for your workspace. What happens to existing accounts when SSO is enabled? Existing team members are typically migrated to SSO authentication as part of the rollout. The Runa Enterprise team will walk you through the transition to minimize disruption.
